Where have I been?
The new Jenny Lewis is the best album cover of the decade, absolutely. I just saw it five minutes ago. Mer says its been out for a month.

Petra is here. She is working on the campaign, for free, until November 4th. She flew in yesterday at noon, worked until midnight, and worked her first full day (9am to 2am) today. Awesome.

The best part of this job
I registered a convicted felon today who was shocked when I told him that, being off parole and probation, he could vote; his entire judiciary and penal experience had convinced him he could not. He was so taken aback that ten minutes after he walked away, he came back to thank me, and promised to tell all his friends.
Massive internet outage means we’re working out of coffeeshops all day. Every time their shift changes I have to buy a new cup. Nerve symphony set to low-frequency hum.
Met a soldier named Luke tonight who just got home from Iraq. He told me about his friend in the service who found out last week that his wife is pregnant by another man for the second time. The kid did his morning duties, then went in to the showers and blew his brains out. Luke wished Barack was in Iraq two weeks ago so he could have shaken his hand and promised his vote.

Day 1
State primary election day. Woke up at 5:15 and headed to a polling precinct on the west side to recruit volunteers. Every black person I talked to was a democrat, and every white person a republican. Around 8:30 some republicans complained, then the poll manager asked me to move, then they called the board of elections and a man drove in and measured 150 feet from the outside corner of the...
